Traditional Apple Pie
Now that you've got your tools, make sure you have all your ingredients before we begin. Remember, your butter and water should be VERY cold. A perfect crust should be made cold and baked hot! Now let's follow the steps on the left to create your perfect pie!
Crust
- 2 1/2 Cups Flour
- 1 Tsp Salt
- 1 Cup Chilled Butter
- 1/2 Cup Ice Cold Water
Filling
- 8 Cups Peeled & Sliced Cooking Apples
- 1 Cup White Sugar
- 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
- 1/4 Cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1/3 Cup Butter
- 1 Tsp Ground Cinnamon
- 1/4 Tsp Ground Nutmeg
- 2 Tsp Lemon Juice
Glaze
- 1 Egg White
- White Sugar for Sprinkling
Note:
This recipe yields one 9 inch double crust Apple Pie. Make sure to use a 9 inch pie plate!
